Of course basic meaning of Distance is considered usually as of one dimensional Length.
But in here, I would like to expand the meaning.

Space
Area
Volume
Time
Barrier
Tragedy
Comedy
Tear
Laugh
Emotion (Admiration, Hate, Love, Hope, Despair, ...... so many)
