By the way, now people prefers typing key board rather than writing by pen.
Is that the reason why recent issue for communication is getting much more on hitting rather than on distance?

Distance in Blog system

I started (actually resumed several years after registration) this blog recently to just leave a memorandum for myself to think about Distance. So I am writing randomly from what I thought about. I often start writing very roughly first and edit (or sometimes totally revise) it very later on. I wrote from PC at home or sometimes from mobile phone during biz trip in other countries.

I am not sure about the detail of this blog system or even internet system, but anyway all appeared in the web.

How did these thoughts or texts travel these invisible distances and where did these to be stored?

Really childish and old fashioned query to information technology but still mysterious and somehow fantastic, though based on actual technology......

Achilles and Tortoise

Achilles cannot catch up Tortoise forever. This famous story often reminds me dullness of discussing about "distance".

Not only because it is directly the story which mention about distance, but also because it suggests "if you stick to some distance from the very narrow view point, you miss something much more important."

To point out, there are many distances between something and another, that is too much easy. Rather, to find out unusual crevasse in the world which seems very usual at a glance, that's much more important.

Actually we are all living in a bit dull world. It is not meaningless even if Distancology is full of dullness. Rather, starting from dullness is required manner for a person like me who is in a way awkward at living!?

Painting

Some people seem to jump into the painting's world when they see their favorite paintings. I happen to realize this by reading a mystery novel about Henry Rousseau.
I do sometimes go to museums and see a lot art works, but for me, they are still objects to be see.
I keep distance to observe, examine, understand or even think another things. But people who really love painting will not take distance to observe. They will directly dive into the world which the painting provide and live together with the artist or the object.
Painting is usually believed to be as an existence to be seen. But once the painting grab somebody's heart, suddenly the distance between the painting and the person disappear.
I understand such thing often happen in many medias in art, but almost forgot this may still happen in the classic art of 2d painting world.
What have I seen or experienced in museums till now?

Ballet

Last weekend, I went to see a rehearsal for ballet performance for kids.
It was fun to see my daughters' performance though it appeared not so much different from some comical performances when they did at kindergarten few years before.

But some of elder girls in the class show some high quality performance.
I am totally amateur about Ballet, I have never seen real ballet performance.

So I have no back ground knowledge nor right to criticize.

But I was quite impressed they are crossing the stage from corner to corner with very beautiful manner! Crossing by Jumping, turning, posing, combination of these and others.

Usually we move some distance from one place to the other by walking or running. It depends on how much we are hurrying. I guess in Ballet, they integrated that method of moving into a kind of ultimate manner.

Now the purpose is no more reaching to the destination, but moving itself.
How to cross the distance.

And when we think back about our lives, those are just like crossing the distance as whole life time. Some have some destination as a goal. But that is just an additional for entire lives.

In that meaning, I imagine Ballet could represent lives by showing How we can cross distance as LIFE.

Stop smoking

When I used to smoke, almost 10 years before, I sometimes tried to stop smoking.

It was not so much difficult for me to stop smoking for example for three weeks.

Actually it was very refreshing and comfortable period during when I can woke up more comfortably.

But after some while, I always wondered "I was smoking so much comfortably which I already forgot! How was that like?"

Then I resumed smoking from just a curiosity.

Anyway, after repeating these several times, I noticed that I no need to stop smoking, just imagine "I am continue smoking, but by accident a period of one cigaret to the next is getting a bit longer......"

Even during I was smoking, period from one cigaret to the next it took 30 min. or some hours. So it is just taking too much time than usual, I thought like that.

And it actually succeeding. I always keep one box of cigarette in my desk drawer almost 10 years but not opened yet.

I believe life is something like that.

There is just a short and dry distance between two accidents.
Some people regards that as just a pause, while the others consider that as a lack.

Optimistic or Pessimistic?
Hope or Despair?
Regret or Restart?

Depending on our way of perception, world appeared to us upside down, although the fact is there is just a short and dry distance.

Dream

Few days ago, I had a dream.

I got on the bus which is different bus and direction from the one I used for going to work.
But I was somehow familiar with that rout, I don't know why. I guess I had a destination to go, but I missed the bus stop.
So I got off at a bus stop after 2 or 3 stops.
It was along the see. And from the road to see shore, I need to go down the stairs.
(At this moment, I already forgot originally where I wanted to go and already seemed not interested at all about that destination.)
In the middle of the stairs, there are two small restaurants. One is Ramen shop facing road side and at the other side there was a Japanese style Pizza so called "Okonomiyaki" restaurant. Interesting thing to say, that was Hiroshima style "Okonomiyaki" restaurant in I guess oversea country island.
I decided to enter, but at that same time, shining sea water coming into my eyes and I went down more.
I a little bit worried if I should jump into the sea or not. But I took off my T-shirt and prepared for swimming.
Suddenly I noticed my two daughters are watching me. They are almost saying "Daddy, are you really going to swim here?"
Anyway I did jumped in the water. In the water I saw sea snake is swimming in the water.
I was not scared than expected, but I slowly swim back to avoid be bitten by the snake.

That's all I remembered when I woke up.

Dream is story which lacks sense of Distance......
